TREATMENT PROCESS
TAKING A HISTORY
To begin the treatment of your animal, Danielle will take a full history, asking questions to help provide the best care possible. These questions will often be focused around any medical problems, lifestyle. The information uncovered in the history will help during the treatment process and aftercare, making sure that an appropriate treatment is carried out with the animal's welfare at the forefront. You will be asked to sign to confirm veterinary consent has been granted for treatment. This is a requirement by law, under the Veterinary Surgeons Act, 1966.
STATIC AND DYNAMIC ASSESSMENT
Both static and dynamic assessments will be conducted, which will include both a walk and trot up, and will often incorporate some neurological testing such as backing up and circling. These tests will help pinpoint any areas of misalignment. This presents a full picture of the animals muskuloskeletal health, which means the treatment can target any problem areas and be tailored to the animal at hand.
TREATMENT
McTimoney takes on a gentle approach to chiropractic, so Danielle will use only her hands to pinpoint, and treat misalignments of the skeleton, including the spine and pelvis. The adjustments used to correct skeletal issues are high speed, yet gentle. The pain free adjustment approach is why the technique is so readily accepted by animals.
AFTERCARE
Following McTimoney treatment, generic aftercare will often see your animal taking a days rest. All aftercare advise will be specifically tailored to the animal, based on their routine, and what was found during treatment.
For up to 48 hours after treatment, animals can experience some mild symptoms, often tiredness and a little stiffness.
